About Us

Niddwool began with one person - me, Losita - and one simple question
“Why is it so difficult to find affordable, beautifully made accessories using British wool?”
For years, I knew British farmers were struggling to sell their wool, but it wasn’t until I watched a BBC news segment a few months ago that the reality truly hit me. They mentioned that if everyone in Britain bought just one woolly hat made from British wool, it would help clear the country’s surplus wool stock.
That message stayed with me.
Living in West Yorkshire, I went out searching for a British-wool beanie—something warm, natural, sustainable, and truly local. But on the high street, there were none. The few I did find were so expensive that even I couldn’t justify buying them.
So I decided to make my own.
What I didn’t expect was how difficult it would be to find British wool yarn itself. In a country filled with sheep, how could British wool products be so rare? The more I searched, the more shocked I became. And that shock turned into purpose.
How Niddwool Was Born
Niddwool was created to bring British wool back into the hands, homes, and hearts of people in the UK.
My mission is simple:
- Use only sustainable British wool
- Support British farmers, British mills, and small independent businesses
- Create honest, high-quality wool accessories at a fair and reasonable price
- Reconnect people with the heritage of British wool
From start to finish, everything at Niddwool is made using materials sourced here in the UK. Every piece celebrates local craftsmanship, traditional skills, and the incredible natural fibre our farmers work so hard to produce.
Our Values
Slow Fashion
We don’t rush, overproduce, or follow trends.
Niddwool focuses on thoughtful, intentional making—creating pieces that are crafted slowly and carefully, not churned out.
Quality
Our woolly hats and neck warmers are made to last.
We choose fibres for their durability, softness, and natural performance.
Quality isn’t an option—it’s our foundation.
About Our Wool & Sustainability
At Niddwool, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our wool comes from various sheep that are grazed and raised freely across the UK. Some are rare native breeds, while others are from conservation areas. Our yarn is sourced from both large and small spinning mills as well as independent shops across the UK — helping to keep this rich textile culture alive for generations to come.
Our tags are made from scrap wool garments from a West Yorkshire woollen mill, connected with leftover yarn and sewn using natural fibres like cotton or linen. To minimise waste, we hand-write our logo on each tag with a laundry pen, avoiding the extra waste of printed logos (left over papers). Crafting these tags takes time and care, reflecting our commitment to thoughtful, eco-friendly practices. Every tags are unique on its own.
Our packaging is fully sustainable, using reused natural wrapping papers, cardboard boxes, and paper tape — with no plastic at any stage. Almost no waste is produced from start to finish, and everything we use can easily return to the earth.
We are committed to producing goods that are kind to both people and the planet. Niddwool focuses on sustainability and eco-conscious practices, ensuring everything we create is as gentle on the environment as it is on you.
We use only sustainable British wool, a renewable, biodegradable material that’s gentle on the planet. Choosing wool over synthetic fibres helps reduce waste, microplastics, and environmental impact.
Transparency
We believe people should know exactly what they’re buying and where it comes from.
Every Niddwool piece is made with honesty—from fibre to finish—with full transparency about our materials and process.
Honest Accessories
A woolly hat should be warm.
A neck warmer should be comforting.
And both should be made in a way that respects people, animals, and the planet.
At Niddwool, we embrace simplicity and integrity to create accessories that feel real, honest, and meaningful.
Our Purpose
Niddwool isn’t just a brand.
It’s a slow-fashion project rooted in community, sustainability, and cultural preservation.
It exists to help everyone involved in the chain—British farmers, British mills, and small local makers—while offering beautiful, ethical products you can be proud to wear.
We want to educate and inspire people to choose British wool again.
To introduce younger generations to this fibre so they can rediscover its value and pass it on.
Thank you for supporting British wool, slow fashion, and a better future for our planet.
Together, we can bring British wool back where it belongs—close to home.
